DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – 25th November 2014…….President of the Republic of Cyprus His Excellency Mr. Nicos Anastasiades has expressed his government’s intentions to forge closer ties with Antigua and Barbuda.
During a recent meeting in Dubai with Antigua and Barbuda’s newly appointed Ambassador to Cyprus, His Excellency Dr. Aly El Dakroury, President Anastasiades congratulated Ambassador El Dakroury on his appointment and accepted his instruments of appointment.
President Anastasiades also announced that his country will commence plans to reciprocate and appoint an Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda in an effort to develop closer relations and explore avenues for business entities in Cyprus to invest in Antigua and Barbuda.
President Anastasiades also requested Ambassador El Dakroury to convey his best wishes to Prime Minister Browne on his recent election to office and extended an invitation for the Prime Minister to make an official visit to Cyprus.
A few weeks ago, Ambassador Dakroury, an investment executive with years of experience in investment banking and wealth management, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Prime Minister Gaston Browne for a project valued over US $200 million dollars.
Ambassador El Dakroury, representing SunnyHill Group Limited, signed the MOA that will result in the construction and development of over four hundred units as a world-class hotel complex to be constructed in four phases of US $50 million dollars each.
The project, which will be in the form of a joint venture, will utilize one hundred acres of land in the Falmouth and Bethesda areas owned by C.O. Williams Property Development Company Limited.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda will provide the necessary incentives and concessions commensurate with a project of this magnitude. (Ends)
