The latest buzz in the Caribbean front is about Antigua and Barbuda passport, which is going to be stronger and more powerful with a total of 136 countries added in it visa free list. The Antigua and Barbuda ambassadors signed the agreement of abolishing of visa requirements with their Ukrainian counterparts after several months of negotiations.
This agreement was signed on 7th Feb, 2018 in the Ukrainian embassy in Washington DC by Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to USA, Sir Ronald Sanders and his Ukrainian counterpart, Valeriy Chaly. The agreement abolishes the requirement for a visa for the two countries allowing their citizens to enter each other’s countries for holidays or business without visa.
Although, the agreement is signed in February, the visa abolition will be effective only after 30 days, meaning from 7th March 2018 onwards. In the meantime, arrangements for the agreement will be implemented to ‘facilitate ease of travel’ for the citizens of both countries.
Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe with a sizable population, which but reinstates the importance of this move for the economy. Ambassador Sanders also explained that its beneficial for Antigua and Barbuda to tap a fair share of the Ukrainian tourist market. Adequate marketing, promotion and advertising, including tour and travel operators, Antigua and Barbuda can effectively extract the opportunity.
With Ukraine added in its visa-free entry kit, Antigua and Barbuda amassed a total of 136 countries where the Antiguan citizens and passport holders can travel without visa. This is likely to enhance the value and standing of the Antigua and Barbuda Passport and can effectively lure global investors to Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment scheme in 2018.
