CIP Saint Lucia: Due Diligence and Source of Funds Concerns for Iran & Syria

CIP Saint Lucia: Due Diligence and Source of Funds Concerns for Iran & Syria

On 16th May 2017, Saint Lucia Citizenship by Investment Unit issued a notification that there are some difficulties in the processing of applications of Irani & Syrian born and residing citizens. The notice states following:

The citizenship by investment unit has had reason to be concerned about recent development that have made it challenging to process applications for applicants who were born and/or reside in Iran and Syria.

Of concern is the difficulty in processing fees for those applications. Even more importantly recent cease of "active Iran work" on the part of some of our due diligence service providers has reached our risk level with respect to those applicants.

In the light of this significant development, the Unit would like to advise all concerned that applications from Iran and Syria will likely experience unusually long delays in the processing times at best. At worst the unit maybe unable to process such applications due to fees not being accepted by our bank or due diligence not being completed by our service providers.

Please be guided accordingly.
