How This Caribbean Island Started Grenada Citizenship by Investment Programme?
Many Caribbean islands have started to initiate programs for people to gain citizenship of a second country enabling them to possess a second passport. Grenada is offering this incentive too and has been doing so since 2013 under the ‘Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013.’ There is no catch as such but the applicant is required to pay some money to either the National Transformation Fund or provide money for a named project which has been approved by the Grenadian government.
The National Transformation Fund (NTF) is the body in Grenada which has been delegated responsibility for sourcing funding for Government-sponsored projects. An ‘Approved project’ as defined under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013 Section 3 is one that has been given ministerial approval after a request has been received from the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Committee.
As the Grenada Government wants to treat its Grenada Economic Citizenship program as valuable it will invite those interested in becoming citizens and approve any business associations that are to be formed before the applicant and his or her family are granted Grenada citizenship.

The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Program was first officially launched in 2013 under regulations laid down by the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act. Some countries take months before making a decision for investment applications but not Grenada as the process only takes 4 months. Unlike other citizenship by investment countries it includes any dependent children below 25 years. Parents over 65 years can be included in an application too.
You don’t need to be present in the country to apply through the Grenda CBI program or when your application is being processed. You are not required to attend an interview or prove your educational standard or business experience. Once you have that Grenada second passport in your hand you are entitled to visa-free travel to more than 100 countries including those that are members of Schengen. As Grenada approves of dual citizenship, you have the luxury of maintaining two citizenships.

Grenada also knows how to protect unique environments and has marine reserves and a national park with walking trails which look into a volcanic crater. Here you may even see some primates, called mona monkeys. These are not endemic but nonetheless live in the wild. You may not have heard of leatherback turtles but they breed right here in Grenada and tourists in the breeding season flock to see them. Fortunately, the government ensures that the turtles are protected so they are there for future generations.
