Antigua & Barbuda Citizenship by Investment

The Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Act 2013 authorizes the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to grant citizenship to persons who qualify under criteria set out below. The Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) requires a person to make a significant economic contribution to Antigua and Barbuda in exchange for citizenship, subject to a stringent application procedure and due diligence exercise. The applicant must satisfy the application requirements through one of the following three investment options:

  1. National Development Fund (NDF)

A contribution to the National Development Fund (NDF) of a minimum non-refundable amount of US$250,000.00 (for a single applicant).

  1. Real Estate

An investment of at least US$400,000.00 into one of the approved real estate projects and to be held for a minimum period of 5 years. The cost of property tax, registration, processing fees must be paid on the top of the property value.

  1. Business Investment

An investment of a minimum of US$1.5 Million directly into a qualified business as a sole investor or as a joint investment involving at least 2 persons in a qualified business investment totaling at least US$5 Million and in which each of those persons individually invests at least US$400,000.00.

Government Fees

The fees applicable under the program are stated in the table below. Ten percent (10%) of the government fee is payable (and non-refundable) upon submission of an application with the balance due following receipt of an approval letter sent to the authorized agent who submitted the application. A government fee is charged for each family member as prescribed below.

Due Diligence Fee

All applications are subject to rigorous due diligence to ensure that only meritorious applicants are granted citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda. The due diligence fee is charged for each family member above the age of 11 years as prescribed in the table below. The due diligence fee is payable upon submission of the application by the appointed agent and is non-refundable

Passport Fee

Each family member is required to pay such sums as are prescribed for the extraction of an Antigua and Barbuda Passport from the Passport Office.

**Principal Applicant $50,000, Spouse $50,000 and Two dependents free until 1st May, 2016 (applies to the NDF investment option only).

Advantages and BenefitsĀ of Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship

In 2009, the Antigua and Barbuda government signed a visa waiver agreement with the EU which allows an Antigua and Barbuda citizen to visit the Schengen countries without a visa for a period of three months within any six-month period following the date of first entry into any EU country.

The Antigua and Barbuda passport is an excellent travel document for the international client. With an Antigua and Barbuda passport, a citizen can travel with ease to approximately 130 countries throughout the world, including Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK and Europe. Full citizenship with passport is granted to the applicant and family, and there are no restrictions on the rights of the citizen including his right to vote, subject to the requirement to register to vote in the usual manner. Antigua and Barbuda is a member of the Commonwealth family of countries, comprising 53 independent sovereign states, thus entitling its citizens to certain privileges in the UK and other Commonwealth countries.

Further, An Antigua and Barbuda citizen is entitled to take up residence in Antigua and Barbuda at any time.
