St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris has called for a regional approach to the Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP).
All but one independent member state of the OECS now have a CIP arrangement in place,St. Vincent and the Grenadines being that one. Dr. Harris fears countries may begin to undercut each other.
“We may have another story come in and the solution is reduce the price,” he told sub-regional leaders meeting in Dominica on Wednesday morning. Dr. Harris, whose country has the oldest citizenship by investment programme in the world, also said that CIP nations must stop seeing each other as competitors.
The federation’s prime minister was speaking in Dominica at the start of the 62nd Organization of Eastern Caribbean States Authority meeting. He disclosed that Antigua and Barbuda has agreed to host a regional CIP Summit next month.
